Soprano Helen Gabrielsen is a performer of art song, chamber works and new music. Recent credits include the voice of Eliza in the electro-acoustic work, The ELIZA Effect, featured in ESOPUS Magazine Issue 19: Customer Service, Singer No. 3 in 1,2,3 - a collaborative dance on film project with Five Words in a Line and Artichoke Dance Company that screened at the American Dance Festival, and the pocket monodrama Food by Dag Gabrielsen performed at the Tenri Center in Manhattan on commission from 8 Strings & A Whistle with texts from Gertrude Stein's Tender Buttons. She has premiered the role of Irina in Man in the Black Coat with Little Opera Theatre of New York, Karin in the opera Maren of Vardo by Jeff Myers at Yale Institute for Music Theatre, Lily in the pocket opera All Three Acts of a Sad Play Performed Entirely in Bed, Greg in Beardsmanship, a Dada opera on the Cold War era, The Serpent in Orfeo, Eurydice and The Serpent, a chamber opera based on the Orpheus myth that appropriates scores from Monteverdi, Telemann, Haydn, Offenbach, Milhaud, Crumb, Rossi and Sartorio and song cycles set to texts of E.E. Cummings by Daniel Temkin and Steve Aprahamian. Notable recitals include a performance of Argento's Letters from Composers for solo voice and guitar at Rockwood Music Hall and multiple performances of the music of Les Six with pianist Marcia Eckert. She was double-cast as Lina Rose and Nurse Monika in the film version of The Physicists, a satirical opera based on the stage play by Friedrich Dürrenmatt.
